CNN has a correspondent in Myanmar reporting on the cyclone that has killed as many as 10,000 people. But CNN has only been calling the reporter “CNN correspondent.” Because of restrictions on foreigners, CNN has chosen not to reveal the correspondent’s identity, at least for now.
“The decision was taken for security reasons, which we do not discuss. We will review the situation as this story develops,” a CNN spokeswoman tells TVNewser.
MSNBC has been getting reports from Jens Orback, identified on the air as a freelance journalist. FNC’s David Piper has been reporting from Bangkok.
Television in Myanmar (Burma) is state-run and the country is ruled by a military junta which is led by two generals.
> Update: CNN has identified their correspondent. It is Dan Rivers.
