Remembering Peter: “1 Year Nicotine Free”

A few of the messages on ABCNews.com’s message board for World News:

drew7772ba: “Tomorrow I will celebrate one year nicotine free. When I heard that he had died, I quit and haven’t gone back. As a journalism major and former news producer, he was a role model and mentor like no other, and even in his death, he continues to affect me, those who love me and those who I love.”

chrmaggie: “I couldn’t believe that it had been a year already since Peter died. I can remember how I felt when he gave us the news on T.V. that evening, it was like someone had hit me in the chest. I had just lost my father at the age of 86 to cancer. He had smoked most of his life but quit at the age of 50 and lived through heart surgery and diabetes to the age of 86, we were blessed to have him so many years. It didn’t take much convincing for me to quit. I am proud to say that I have been smoke free since the 26th of October.”

nosesabe: “After one year we still mourn very deeply Peter’s absence. He would be in the Middle East reporting to us with accurate information and deep insight to all these horrible messes in Lebanon, Iraq and the rest of the region. God bless his family. God bless all of us.”
