By Merrill Knox

As “New Day” marks three months on the air, there is good news and bad news for the CNN morning show. Although “New Day” lags behind “Fox & Friends” and “Morning Joe” in the ratings, it is the only show of the three to grow compared to the same time period last year.

From June 17 to September 17, “New Day” averaged 309,000 total viewers and 110,000 A25-54 viewers, placing third among the cable news morning shows in both ratings measurements. Despite that, the show improved on its year-ago averages, up +33% in total viewers and +18% in the A25-54 demographic.

By comparison, “Fox & Friends” and “Morning Joe” were both down year-over-year for the same three-month period. Fox News declined -3% in total viewers and -22% in the demo and MSNBC declined -12% and -19%, respectively.
