Prep Those DVRs: 'The Franchise: A Season with the San Francisco Giants' To Get Previewed April 13

Showtime and MLB Productions have revealed a little more information about the docu-series following the World Champion San Francisco Giants. The show, now called “The Franchise: A Season with the San Francisco Giants,” will get a sneak preview Wednesday April 13, two weeks after Opening Day. The series premiere is slated for Wednesday, July 13.

The companies also released a great trailer, which unfortunately is not embeddable. Check out the trailer here.

As we reported in January, the show will follow the team through the entire 2011 season, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at what happens when the players aren’t on the field.

If the trailer is any indication, look for star pitcher Tim Lincecum and closer Brian Wilson to be the stars of the show (though it certainly isn’t a surprise in the outspoken Wilson’s case).

There are also cameras in the players’ cars (see photo above) which is, um, cool, in a voyeuristic way.

If the show does well, look for “The Franchise” to become a franchise for Showtime in the same way “Hard Knocks” has become for HBO.
