Penguins re-up with Root Sports for next two decades

By Cam Martin

Even though they had three years remaining on their television deal with Root Sports, the Pittsburgh Penguins decided to re-up early with the local cable network in a deal that runs through the 2028-2029 season. Financial terms of the arrangement have not been disclosed.

The Penguins have been the top-rated regional hockey team the last four seasons. Root Sports reaches 2.4 million cable- and satellite-homes in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland, and it is also the exclusive rights holder for Pirates games.
