Newspaper Reporter Who Broke Penn State Scandal Joins CNN

By Chris Ariens

Sara Ganim, a reporter with The Patriot News in Harrisburg, PA, has joined CNN as an Atlanta-based correspondent.

Ganim broke the story of the grand jury investigation into Jerry Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator for Penn State football.  Ganim, awarded a Pulitzer Prize earlier this year, was an on-air contributor for CNN, HLN and In Session during Sandusky’s trial.

Prior to joining the Patriot News, Ganim reported for the Centre Daily Times covering crime and the courts.

A 2008 Penn State graduate, Ganim was also presented a George Polk Award in journalism and the Sidney Award for socially-conscious journalism for her work on the Sandusky case.

“I’m still going to work on the Sandusky story but I’m also ready to do other things,” Ganim tells PennLive.com. “It’s not the only story in the world and I don’t want to get to the point where this is the only thing I can do.”
