By Chris Ariens

morning show anchors_640NBC’s “Today” came within 4,000 viewers of No. 1 “Good Morning America” in the all-important A25-54 demo. In fact, “Today” won 3 of 4 days last week (Due to the Martin Luther King holiday Monday’s shows were coded as specials and are excluded from the weekly averages).

But compared to the same week last year all three newscasts were down: “GMA” was down -12% in viewers and down -18% in the demo; “Today” was down -8% in viewers and down -10% in the demo. “CBS This Morning” was flat in viewers and down -9% in the demo.

This same week last year saw big audiences due to coverage of the polar vortex.
