Morning Show Ratings: Week of February 24 and February, 2014 Sweeps

MorningShowNEWNBC’s “Today” show and ABC’s “Good Morning America” share the gold for February sweeps. “GMA” won the month among total viewers, by just 45,000 viewers. “Today,” with a boost from the Sochi games, took the A25-54 demo, by just 42,000 viewers.

For “GMA,” this is the first back-to-back February sweeps win in 20 years, since 1993 and 1994; and its second most-watched sweeps in more than 22 years.

This is “Today’s” best February sweeps in the demo since 2012, and best in total viewers since 2010, when the last Winter Olympics was held. “Today” was up big from last February: +20% in viewers and up +15% in the demo.

Meanwhile, “CBS This Morning” had its best February sweeps in total viewers in seven years, up +6% from last February, but down -6% in the demo.

For the week of February 24 (numbers after the jump), “GMA” wins in both total viewers and demo, down -1% and up +2%, respectively. As the “Today” anchors returned from Sochi, the show saw a big jump from last year: up +13% in viewers and up +10% in the demo. “CBS This Morning” was up +7% in viewers and down -10% in the demo, compared to the same week last year.

  • A25-54 viewers: ABC: 2.306M / NBC: 2.348M / CBS: 1,081,000


The averages for the week of February 24, 2014:

  • Total Viewers: ABC: 5.788M / NBC: 5.462M / CBS: 3.058M
  • A25-54 viewers: ABC: 2.297M / NBC: 2.219M / CBS: 970,000
