NBC’s “Today” show, which saw its anchor team migrate to Vancouver last week ahead of the Winter Olympics, remained the top morning show, though the program was down in total viewers week-to-week. “Today” was up in the demo.
ABC’s “Good Morning America” had a strong week, drawing its largest Total Viewer average since the week of January 26, 2009 and its largest audience in the A25-54 demo since the week of March 2, 2009. The first-place Total Viewer gap was the smallest it’s been since November of 2008.
CBS’ “Early Show” was also up week-to-week in total viewers (and the demo), and drew its largest audience since the first week of the year.
Weather was a major story last week for the morning shows, with the east coast blizzard receiving significant coverage on Wednesday. We’ll find out next week what affect the start of the Olympics will have on the ratings.
