Michelle Fields Calls Greta Van Susteren a ‘Trump Shill’

Former Breitbart News reporter Michelle Fields has called Fox News host Greta Van Susteren a “Trump shill” for suggesting that Fields avoid pursuing a civil case against Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg will hold a news conference today to address the Lewandowski case. He is expected to announce he will not prosecute–a decision first reported by Politico.

Writing on her GretaWire blog, Van Susteren said it would be “irresponsible” to urge Fields to respond by bringing a civil law suit. “She does not want to take the stand in a civil case, subject to rigorous cross examination, that is likely to be on television to discuss a case that the DA won’t prosecute because he does not believe the evidence shows assault.”

Van Susteren described a potential civil suit against Lewandowski or Trump as “expensive and a heartache.” She also recommended Lewandowski not consider a defamation case against Fields, as some have suggested.

But on Twitter, Fields clearly did not appreciate the advice:

Fields, a former Fox News contributor, has continued to appear as a guest on the network, but not since the incident with Lewandowski. In addition to criticizing Van Susteren, she has accused Fox News host Sean Hannity — someone she’s previously called a mentor — of failing to press Trump on the incident during an interview earlier this month.

Fields had accused, and closed circuit cameras revealed, that on March 8 Lewandowski grabbed Fields by the arm as the reporter was attempting to interview Trump.
