NBC’s Jim Long (or, for you Twitter types, @NewMediaJim), joined us this morning on the mediabistro.com Morning Media Menu podcast, to discuss the state of the industry and what got him interested in the new media side.
“We’re moving from Meet the Press, and now we can meet the people,” he says. “It’s great.”
He praised the idea of sharing when it comes to Twitter and other tools. “That’s what the social web is about,” says Long. “It’s about sharing knowledge, it’s about sharing ideas. That’s what people want to do with media — they want to share it.”
Long has been with NBC “since I was a kid,” and says: “It’s like working for the Super Bowl champs. That’s not a bad feeling.”
Also discussed: the future of network news, whether newspapers should start charging for content and which piece of technology got Long interested in new media.
