They haven’t gotten much sleep. Nor a whole lot of time off. But for TVNewsers covering tonight’s Obama event in Chicago, the past many months on the campaign trail have all been worth it.

“What a great ride this has been,” CNN’s Candy Crowley tells TVNewser. “You really do have this sort of post-partum depression after it’s done!”

Especially after a Presidential race that featured so many twists and turns. “To me,” Crowley explains, “I love it when what we think is gonna happen doesn’t happen.”

“This was the story to be on this year, bar none,” says NBC’s Lee Cowan. “I had a front row seat on the campaign bus to history. I’ll never forget it, no matter how it turns out.”

The Presidential campaign is “all we hear about” from viewers, says FBN’s Liz Claman. “It’s what they want to hear about…this is a fascinating time for our nation.”

After the jump, we talk with ABC’s Jake Tapper about dreaming of sleep, plus Robin Roberts, Judy Woodruff, Kevin Tibbles and more…

“Whatever the most cognizant version of a coma is, that’s what I am right now,” says ABC’s Jake Tapper, who’s been on the campaign trail for many of the past 21 months.

He’s looking forward to going home, he says, to “reacquaint myself with my wife and daughter.”

Crowley says she’s gotten, on average, about four hours sleep a night lately — citing as an example her 3am arrival time this morning in the Windy City.

“There’s a certain amount of adrenalin that keeps you going at this point,” she says.
