Jim Sciutto Named Co-Anchor of CNN Newsroom

By A.J. Katz

Poppy Harlow is getting a new on-air partner for the weekday edition of CNN Newsroom, and his name is Jim Sciutto.

Today, CNN Worldwide chief Jeff Zucker announced that beginning next Monday, Sept. 17, Sciutto will join Harlow as co-anchor of CNN Newsroom airing Monday through Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. ET.

Sciutto is known for his extensive experience covering the intelligence community, foreign policy, and the Department of Defense, including more than a decade as a foreign correspondent based overseas.

In late 2011, Scuitto left longtime home ABC News to work abroad as chief of staff and senior adviser to U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke, before moving to CNN in September 2013 to become the network’s chief national security correspondent.

Scuitto will maintain that role, in addition to his new gig as a morning anchor.

Harlow had been going it alone on CNN Newsroom since late May, when John Berman left the program to replace Chris Cuomo on New Day. Cuomo now hosts the network’s 9 p.m. hour, Cuomo Prime Time.
