Jamie McIntyre Is Not Actually Auditioning for MSNBC, But Rich Edson WILL Steal Your iPad

Apparently, the video we posted earlier this week of former CNNer Jamie McIntyre “auditioning” for David Shuster’s anchor spot caused a bit of confusion among some who thought the video, which was a joke to promote a charity event, was not, in fact, a joke. From McIntyre’s blog:

I soon began getting worried messages from friends concerned that my “audition” tape had leaked, and that I was suffering the embarrassing consequences. I admit I am slightly embarrassed that some folks don’t realize it’s a JOKE. Which, by the way, illustrates another sad truism of today’s journalism environment, namely it’s impossible to do a parody of television news that can’t be mistaken for the real thing.

McIntyre clarifies that he is not actually unemployed, he is not actually interviewing for an MSNBC gig, and he does actually like his haircut. And that remark about CNN’s “quality reduction initiative?” Also a joke. “There was no such initiative, so far as I am aware. CNN was very good to me, including when I left, and I still have lots of friends there, I hope.”
