“Heart & Soul of CNN” Exiting TW Board

> Update: 1:49pm: In an interview with Bloomberg, Turner “said that although CNN’s ratings have been declining, its influence hasn’t. ‘It can come back,’ Turner said. ‘It can also go downhill.’

Another sign of the changing Time:

Ted Turner is exiting the Time Warner board. His involvement with the company will now just be as a shareholder — the biggest individual shareholder, to be sure, but no longer an executive or even a board member.

“This is a damn shame,” a CNNer e-mailed this morning. “Ted is the heart and soul of CNN, and we would do well to remember his optimism, his fierce internationalism, and above all his twin commitments to peace and quality journalism.”
