Hair Raising Story Makes Cable News Rounds

By Chris Ariens

In addition to all that Palestinian Statehood, U.S. government shutdown, and Wall Street news, there was the story of Isis Brantley, a Dallas hairstylist who says TSA officials humiliated her at Atlanta’s airport last week when they subjected her Afro hairstyle to a search.

Brantley has made the national news rounds, telling MSNBC today that after going through security once, “15 minutes later someone was running after me…. two people down the escalator talking about, ‘hey, hey, hey, we have to check your hair for bombs.'”

TSA says Brantley left the checkpoint before security could complete her screening. That prompted a security officer to refer her for further screening in public view of arriving passengers.
