Fox News Tops Ratings During Busy News Week

Between the Boston Marathon bombings and subsequent manhunt and the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, this week was the busiest news weeks in recent memory. Among the cable news networks, Fox News topped the ratings in both total day and primetime from Monday to Thursday (we’ll have Friday’s ratings Monday).

From Monday to Thursday, Fox News averaged 1.647 million total viewers and 421,000 A25-54 viewers in total day. In primetime, the network averaged 2.783 million viewers and 682,000 viewers, respectively.

CNN came in second among the cable news networks, averaging 1.048 million viewers total viewers and 403,000 A25-54 viewers in total day and 1.619 million viewers and 674,000 viewers, respectively, in primetime.

MSNBC averaged 515,000 total viewers and 162,000 viewers in total day. In primetime, the network averaged 975,000 and 333,000 respectively.
