The week of the general election saw the highest combined viewership for the evening newscasts since the week of March 3, when primaries in Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas and Vermont were held. NBC Nightly News came in first in Total Viewers and the A25-54 demo, slightly ahead of ABC’s World News.
Election Day ratings are excluded for World News and the CBS Evening News since they aired in just 85% of the nation. NBC Nightly News aired in 92% of the country, so the day does factor in.
