Evening News Ratings: Week of August 7

By Chris Ariens

World News Tonight with David Muir makes it 11 weeks in a row at No. 1, and now is No. 1 for the 2016-2017 season. That hasn’t happened at this point in the season, which ends next month, in 21 years, since the 1995-96 season.

The ABC program was flat among total viewers compared to the same week last year and down -6 percent in the demo.

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt continues to lead among younger viewers stretching its winning streak in the advertiser-friendly demo to 60 weeks. Nightly was down -27 percent in viewers and down -43 percent in the demo, but that’s compared to week one of NBC’s 2016 Olympics coverage from Rio. The CBS Evening News also lost audience vs. last year: down -6 percent in viewers and down -7 percent in the demo.
