Even TV Crime Correspondents Have Jury Duty Sometimes

By Alex Weprin

One would think that being an attorney and a prominent TV news correspondent with a focus on crime would be a good excuse to get out of jury duty. That was not the case for CBS News “48 Hours” correspondent Erin Moriarty, who was selected to be on the jury of a case, set to begin tomorrow in New York.

The case could last upwards of six days, which CBS says could impact her day job, where she often covers court cases for the primetime newsmagazine.

“I tried to make myself unattractive,” she says “It never occurred to me they would pick me.”
