During Historic News Month, Network Morning Shows See Little Bump

By SteveK

In a month that saw an unprecedented presidential election and an economy on the brink, the network morning shows saw little or no growth. Compared to last November, only CBS’ The Early Show gained in Total Viewers. CBS was flat in the A25-54 demo, as was ABC’s Good Morning America. NBC’s Today show declined in that category year-over-year.

The Today show once again topped the other network morning shows during the sweeps period, winning in Total Viewers and the A25-54 demo. It is the 52nd consecutive sweeps win in Total Viewers and 58th in the demo.

But it was also the lowest Total Viewer delivery for Today during a November sweep since 1995, and the lowest in the demo since 1994.

NBC increased its lead over ABC in Total Viewers, delivering the largest victory over GMA in five years.
