CNN senior international correspondent Arwa Damon and Rio-based correspondent Shasta Darlington carried the Olympic torch Thursday, each running with the flame for about three minutes. “And we didn’t trip or drop it,” joked Damon.
Darlington ran with the torch in the Brazilian city of Curitiba, and handed off the torch to Damon, who has been reporting in Brazil on the preparations for the Olympics. 163,000 people watched the torch run on Facebook Live. CNN and CNN International also carried the portion of the run featuring Darlington and Damon.
