Speaking to Anderson Cooper via phone last night, CNN International reporter Anna Coren detailed how she was told to stop broadcasting from her hotel in Crimea.
“The management of our hotel that we’ve been staying at for over a week told us that we’d basically have to shut down our operation or we’d be kicked out,” Coren said, adding the hotel would not give them a reason when asked.
“We get the feeling, a very strong feeling, that they are getting pressure,” Coren added, suggesting local militia or the new pro-Russian Crimean government might be pressuring business’ to obstruct Western reporters who aren’t just relaying a pro- Russian government message.
Meanwhile, Fox News’ Shepard Smith continued his reporting from Kiev, interviewing State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki yesterday.
“Absolutely…we sent a strong message today,” Psaki told Smith about getting the European Union on board with the U.S. threat of sanctions against Russia if its military intervention in Crimea continues.
