CNN Adds Meteorologist Jennifer Gray, Promotes Nick Valencia to Reporter

Jennifer Gray has joined CNN as an Atlanta-based meteorologist, CNN/U.S. vice president of newsgathering Terence Burke announced today. Gray comes to the network from WTVJ, the NBC owned station in Miami.

“Jennifer brings a versatile skill set as a meteorologist,” Burke said in a statement. “She will be a great addition for CNN with her experience in production, multimedia and reporting in the field.”

CNN has also announced a promotion for Nick Valencia, who has been with the network since 2006, most recently as a news editor on the national content center desk. In his new role, Valencia will be a reporter and producer.

“Nick brings a passion for communicating stories across all mediums. We are happy to promote him to his new role, and integrate his journalism across all of our platforms,” Burke said.

Meteorologist Jennifer Gray Joins CNN

Jennifer Gray has joined CNN as a meteorologist, it was announced today by Terence Burke, vice president of newsgathering for CNN/U.S. Gray, who is a member of the National Weather Association and has earned the AMS Seal of Approval from the American Meteorology Society, will be based in Atlanta at the network’s global headquarters.

“Jennifer brings a versatile skill set as a meteorologist,” said Burke. “She will be a great addition for CNN with her experience in production, multimedia and reporting in the field.”

Prior to joining CNN, Gray was the weekend morning show meteorologist and a feature reporter for WTVJ, the NBC affiliate in Miami, where she covered severe weather in the field and helped produce specials that focused on hurricane preparedness and safety. She co-hosted and co-produced ‘Florida Insider Fishing Report’ for Sun Sports and ‘Beyond The Reef’ in conjunction with the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, raising awareness of conservation issues facing the oceans and Florida’s fisheries.

In addition, Nick Valencia has been promoted to reporter/producer for the network. He has been with CNN since 2006, and most recently served as a news editor on CNN’s National Content Center desk across the network’s many platforms. He is bilingual, and has covered the Mexican drug war and other breaking news stories in the United States and Latin America. In 2013, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) awarded him its inaugural “Si Se Puede” Excellence in Leadership award for his work empowering Latino journalists, and he is the president of the NAHJ Atlanta chapter.
