Christa Robinson, former head of communications for CNN Worldwide, is joining Tribune as Chief Communications Officer. Robinson, who will be based in New York for the Chicago-headquartered company, will report to Tribune CEO Peter Liguori.
“Christa brings a depth of experience in media, corporate communications and government affairs that will be vital in this new role,” says Liguori in a press release. Robinson left CNN earlier this year after 14 years with the network. Before CNN, she served in the Clinton White House as Director of Communications for the Domestic Policy Council.
“I am thrilled to be joining Tribune’s management team during this dynamic period,” said Robinson. “The strength of the company’s legacy media brands, combined with the expansion of broadcasting and new content initiatives, create a tremendous opportunity to position Tribune for its next successful chapter.”
Tribune, which emerged from bankruptcy last year, has explored the sale of its newspapers while doubling down on its TV assets. Tribune owns 23 stations across the country. In July, the company announced it would acquire the 19-station Local TV group for $2.725 billion in cash.
Tribune also owns the classified advertising sites CareerBuilder.com, Cars.com and Apartments.com. Earlier today, Tribune reported Q3 earnings showing revenue of $695 million, down -5% from Q3 2012. Broadcasting revenue of $248 million was down -6% and publishing revenue of $446 million decreased -4%.
