Charles Gibson On Saturday’s Debates: “Sort Of A High-Wire Act”

By Alissa Krinsky

“This is sort of a high-wire act,” Charlie Gibson tells the Washington Post‘s Howard Kurtz, referring to this Saturday’s back-to-back GOP/Democratic Presidential candidates’ debates on ABC. “I could fail miserably with this.”

The Republicans will debate first, with approximately 15 minutes before the Democratic forum begins. Gibson says he’d like candidates from both parties to shake hands during that interim break.

As far as how he sees his own moderating style, Gibson explains, “I’m going to put a question on the table, and to the extent that I can, I’m going to disappear. It’s not about me. It’s not about showing I can ask a clever question. It’s about them.”
