CBS Delivers its Most-Watched November Sweeps in the Morning Since 1993

morning-tv-tvnewser_2016ABC had the most-watched morning newscast during November 2016 sweeps, while NBC finished No. 1 in the news demo during that same time period. CBS finished No. 3, but continues to deliver consistent ratings improvement with a focus on hard news.

Good Morning America’s November sweeps victory marked its 5th straight November win in the Total Viewers category. On the downside, GMA was -5 percent in Total Viewers and -7 percent in the news demo compared to November 2015 sweeps.

Today continued to dominate the morning newscast landscape in the news advertiser-friendly A25-54 demo, earning its 2nd consecutive November sweeps victory in the process. The win marks NBC’s biggest November sweep victory over ABC in the mornings since 2011. That said, Today was -1 percent in the demo and -4 percent in Total Viewers from November 2015 sweeps.

CBS This Morning not only delivers its most-watched November sweeps period in over 20 years, and its best November sweeps in the news demo since 2008, but it was also the only morning newscast that delivered year-over-year improvement both in total viewers (+8 percent) and A25-54 (+12 percent).

Morning show ratings for November 2016 sweeps:

  • Total Viewers: ABC: 4.822 M / NBC:  4.673 M / CBS:  3.805 M
  • A25-54 viewers: ABC:  1.566 M / NBC: 1.834 M / CBS:  1.143 M
