Cal Perry Becomes CNN’s Baghdad Chief

“CNN has promoted Baghdad bureau director Cal Perry to bureau chief,” Tony Maddox announced today.

Perry joined CNN in 2003 as an editor on the international desk. He became a Baghdad-based producer soon after, and was promoted to director last March.

“The Baghdad bureau chief stands as one of the most important and challenging jobs in journalism today and is certainly a critical position within CNN’s international newsgathering efforts,” Maddox said. “Cal has more than proven his mettle with our coverage from Iraq in recent months, and we’re eager to see his work from the region in the future.” Here’s the press release…
