Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly talked to Jimmy Kimmel Monday night about Brian Williams, and said he was disturbed by people who seem “happy that (Williams’) career is going down the drain.”
O’Reilly, who believes Williams embellished his Iraq story–perhaps out of a desire to avoid being a “dweeb” on a late night show–will survive, assuming there is no pattern of exaggerating stories. O’Reilly added that “anybody that’s enjoying the destruction of this man, you gotta look at yourself here.”

Jon Stewart, meanwhile, applauded the merciless scrutiny being applied to Williams’ reporting, saying “finally, someone is being held to account for misleading Americans about the Iraq war.”
