Biz Profiling: Burnett and Joshi

By SteveK

• CNBC’s Erin Burnett is profiled in the Berkshire Eagle (MA). “The network’s decision to give Burnett such a sizable chunk of live airtime between the NYSE’s opening and closing bells can be attributed to her ‘obvious set of skills (and) her wide appeal,’ according to Jonathan Wald, CNBC’s senior vice president of business news,” writes Jessica Willis.

Burnett also discusses her roles with NBC, where she appears on the broadcast network as well as CNBC and MSNBC. “It’s the best place for (television) journalists now,” she said.

• FBN correspondent Shibani Joshi is one popular Oklahoman. A couple months after her profile in Oklahoma Today, she’s profiled in in Oklahoma magazine. “I love the rush of adrenaline of breaking a big story,” said Joshi. “It is the thrill of the chase and breaking news that really keeps you on your toes and teaches you all about the business.”

Joshi describes her path to FBN. “I paid my dues,” she said. “I took journalism classes at night for two years, did freelance on-air work and took side producing projects. I think that I’m proof that it is never too late to achieve your dreams, but that you have to work hard at it.”
