It was another media Monday on “The O’Reilly Factor.” Bernard Goldberg was on as usual, discussing NBC News’s internal investigation into the editing of a “Today” show story in the Trayvon Martin case.
“I think it was a mistake from a show producer,” O’Reilly surmised, adding, “Obviously that can’t stand.”
NBC News tells TVNewser this morning, “the investigation is still ongoing at this point.”
Later in the show, O’Reilly put New York Times media reporter Brian Stelter — founder of this blog — in his reality check. In a story yesterday about Mike Huckabee getting a radio show, Stelter wrote O’Reilly had “failed” at his attempt at a radio talk show. O’Reilly gave up radio in 2009 and last night took issue with the reporting saying, “The Radio Factor” “was among the most profitable radio programs in the country.”
“Here’s some advice for Brian Stelter. Northwestern has a good journalism program. They will teach you to source articles and deal with facts,” said O’Reilly. “Oh, and they’ll also teach you to keep your ideology out of your reporting.”
Stelter tells us that kind of criticism, “Comes with the territory.”
And leading off the show, there was some role playing: Bill O’Reilly played Pres. Obama and Brit Hume played a White House correspondent — which he was many years ago for ABC News.
