Alex Wallace Leaving NBC News

By Chris Ariens

Alex Wallace, a 10-year veteran of NBC News, is leaving the network, effective today, TVNewser has learned.

As senior vice president, Wallace has overseen NBC Nightly News as well as Meet the Press, and, since 2014, the Washington, DC bureau. The news was announced this morning by NBC News president Deborah Turness at the editorial meeting. Turness will oversee DC operations while Janelle Rodriguez, who joined NBC in December as SVP of editorial, will oversee Nightly News.

Wallace joined NBC News as Weekend Today EP in 2005. In 2007 she was named VP of News, essentially the No. 2 job in the news division. In 2007, she took over as EP of Nightly News with Brian Williams, but returned to the front office in 2008. Today’s move comes as News Division head Andy Lack solidifies his senior management.
