Al Jazeera America CEO Calls Anti-Semitic Charges ‘Absurd’

By Mark Joyella

In a statement released this morning by Al Jazeera America, the company and its top executives call charges raised in a lawsuit filed by a former employee “false and malicious” and “designed to mar the exceptional talent and diversity of its employees and the values that Al Jazeera America upholds.”

Matthew Luke, a former AJAM employee, has accused his former bosses of making “discriminatory, anti-Semitic and anti-American remarks.” Al Jazeera America chief executive officer Ehab Al Shihabi dismissed those charges as “absurd.”

“Al Jazeera America’s values are based on the highest ethical standards and professionalism,” Al Shihabi said in the statement. “Integrity and respect guide our conduct internally and externally.”
