Apparently the week of Feb. 5, 2018, is the de facto “TV newser book launch week.”
On Tuesday, ABC News and ZonderKidz threw a party for ABC News correspondent Linsey Davis in honor of her first children’s book, The World Is Awake: A Celebration of Everyday Blessings. Davis says was inspired to write this book after the birth of her son, Ayden, when she realized there aren’t enough books that feature protagonists who look like him.
“It’s essential that all children’s books have a window and a mirror,” Davis remarked at the American Folk Museum in New York. “A mirror for kids to see the reflection of themselves and a window so they can peer out and see a world that’s unfamiliar to them.”
The soiree was well-attended by ABC Newsers. Partygoers included: Diane Sawyer, Robin Roberts, David Muir, Dan Harris, Rebecca Jarvis, Linzie Janis, Ryan Smith, Barbara Fedida, Candi Carter, Almin Karamehmedovic, Roxanna Sherwood, Marc Burstein and singer Jordin Sparks.
The book was released on Tuesday, and is already an Amazon best-seller.
