Despite being down during the day, Fox News Channel is seeing growth where it counts: in the primetime demo. FNC, which has now been the most-watched news channel for 159 consecutive months, was up +10% in the primetime demo for the first quarter of 2015. FNC continues to beat CNN and MSNBC combined in both total day and in primetime viewers.
The ratings for Q1 2015 (Nielsen Live + Same Day data):
- Primetime (Mon-Sun): 1,724,000 total viewers / 321,000 A25-54
- Total Day (Mon-Sun): 1,068,000 total viewers / 209,000 A25-54
Fox News was the 4th most-watched channel on all of cable for Q1 2015, behind only ESPN, TBS and USA.
Total Day viewership was off -3% in total viewers, and off -7% in the demo, but all weekday programs, from 6pmET thru 9pmET, are up in both total viewers and the demo vs. Q1 2014. “Special Report with Bret Baier” is up +1 in viewers and up +5% in the demo; “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” was up +3% in viewers and up +8% in the demo; “The O’Reilly Factor” was up +2% in viewers and up a whopping +19% in the demo which helped give “The Kelly File” a boost: up +1% in viewers and up +20% in the demo.
Fox News had the top 14 programs on cable news in total viewers, with O’Reilly, Kelly and “The Five,” finishing 1-2-3 for the quarter.
