#voteIRL: YouTube Launches Young Voter Campaign

By Steve Safran

Some of YouTube’s biggest stars have joined up to launch a campaign to whip up the vote. Called #voteIRL (vote In Real Life), the message is especially aimed at newly-minted voters – those who were too young to vote in the last election. The kickoff video stars top YouTube talent, including Hank Green, Bethany Mota, Hannah Hart and Kingsley:

The idea behind #voteIRL is to get the young voters to take their online passion and put it into action. According to YouTube, over 200,000 election videos have been uploaded to the site every day since the July conventions. YouTube is hoping people will do more than just talk about the campaign online – they want people to, yes, vote in real life. Google has an easy tool to help with voter registration.
