It’s time to take a look at the top 10 ads of the week by digital share of voice*, powered by iSpot.tv. iSpot.tv tracks TV ads in real-time and allows customers to monitor social actions, search activity and online video views associated with TV spots across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google, Bing, and Yahoo!
This week’s list was all about comedy and action. With just one exception, each of the top 10 of the most engaging ads used either humor or combat to draw in viewers and keep their attention.
The comedy front was led by the No. 1 spot “UnitedHealthcare: Our Song,” which leveraged the universal slapstick humor of fat people falling down and breaking stuff to earn a dominating 8.57% share of voice, driven by equally impressive 1.1 million online views and nearly 250,000 social actions. Others in the laugh track included the still-sticking-around “Android: Friends Furever” spot at a 2.2% digital SOV for third place, “Capital One: Annapolis” spot featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Charles Barkley with a .61% SOV for fifth, and Mountain Dew Kickstart: Come Alive” dancing bit with a .45% SOV at seventh.
The rest of the list is all about the action. “Netflix: Daredevil” snagged the No. 2 spot with a 3.10% SOV bolstered by 1.9 million online views and over 72,000 social actions. Sports action was strong enough for the No. 4 spot, with “Adidas: Take It” claiming a 2.26% SOV, while videogames Halo (with two separate entries) and Bloodborne claiming spots No. 6, No. 9, and No. 8 respectively.
Only the quirky Jeff Goldblum-featured “Apartments.com: Brad Bellflower” in last place broke the trend.
