Social Scoreboard: Week of January 19

By Adam Flomenbaum

Last week’s State of the Union address was the most tweeted-about series or special for the week of January 19, driving 2.6 million tweets by 681,000 unique authors. President Obama’s quip, “I have no more campaigns to run. I know because I’ve won both of them,” generated the highest tweets per minute (TPM) of the evening. Last night’s telecast of (the controversial) ‘The 63rd Annual Miss Universe Pageant’ on NBC and Telemundo placed second, driving 665,000 tweets by 249,000 unique authors; this edged out the ’21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards,’ in what seems to now be a weekly celebration of film and actors. Coming in sixth place was NFL Network’s ‘2015 Pro Bowl Draft’ – the recent change to the Pro Bowl format that allows pundits to draft a pool of Pro Bowl players, has resulted in some increased excitement in the usually-dull all-star game.
