Reddit’s Erik Martin will help us understand the social TV fan at Lost Remote’s NYC show

By Natan Edelsburg

2013 is the year of the social TV fan. One of the most popular social TV platforms right now is reddit, which we profiled back in June. Reddit’s General Manager, Erik Martin will be joining one of the panels that I’m involved with at Lost Remote’s first NYC event on April 24th. Here are the details.

Martin is the General Manager for reddit.com, and has been with the site since 2008. In 2012, TIME magazine named Erik to their list of “The 100 Most Influential People in the World,” and Adweek named him to their “Adweek 50” list of top innovators. Prior to joining reddit, Erik advised a wide range of film, music, TV and web video companies on digital strategy, including a role as Head of Digital for the independent film/music label Palm Pictures.

Before his internet addiction fully took hold, he worked as a documentary filmmaker, and was a senior agent and videographer for the public pranksters Improv Everywhere. Originally from Chapel Hill, NC, Erik graduated from Tulane University and lives in NYC.

During “Understanding where social TV fans live”, Erik will help lead a discussion on the evolving nature of the major social platforms that are driving the opportunities for social TV to thrive and change the way fans learn and love TV. Get ready to learn about the loudest and most passionate TV fans that make up the world of reddit. If you didn’t already know, I’ll be leading a fireside chat with MTV President Stephen Friedman to kick off the day.
