Continuing its trend of innovative social promotion ahead of new seasons, MTV’s “Teen Wolf” sent fans on a weekend scavenger hunt to unlock the trailer to the upcoming fourth season.
The scavenger hunt tasked fans with cultivating 16 words hidden on various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. The random words pertained to storylines in the fourth season, and were hidden in past social media platform posts. Fans had to put the 16 words in the correct order on the whoisthebenefactor.com.
Fans took to the challenge, unlocking the trailer in less than 24 hours.
This isn’t the first fan-driven social challenge the show has launched. At beginning of season three, fans were challenged to unlock the premiere date by tweeting #TeenWolfSeason3 to create a mosaic with their Twitter avatars. This resulted in fans finding out the premiere date, and getting to see a scene from the premiere episode.
The fourth season of the show premieres June 23 at 10pmET.
