‘Game of Thrones’ was already the most pirated TV show in history before the first four episode of the current season were leaked. According to a new report commissioned by CyberLink (the company behind PowerDVD and PhotoDirector) and carried out by YouGov, piracy is perhaps more widespread than one would think:
- 27% of surveyed individuals freely admitted to or considered illegally downloading and consuming media
- 21% of Americans have no remorse about consuming media content illegally
- 55% state that their remorse goes away if they have paid for the downloaded content in the past
- And a whopping 67% are feel comfortable downloading content if it’s not for commercial use
The piracy research is part of a larger report on the radical changes in consumers’ media consumption habits. CyberLink released the findings at NAB. Below, an infographic with highlights from the study:
