How Thuuz Highlights Can Be Your Personalized SportsCenter

By Adam Flomenbaum

Last week at INTX in Chicago, Thuuz – the digital media company dedicated to enhancing sports fans’ experiences – introduced a new service that gives partners and customers the ability to serve fans highlights and condensed gameplay based on personal preferences.

Thuuz Highlights makes use of the company’s ‘excitement level’ algorithms that have historically been used to alert fans when to tune into a game on TV. The product also analyzes when each play happens within broadcasts.

Subscription TV providers, then, will be able to offer sports fans condensed playback of games that presents game action without any stoppages in play. “Since Thuuz Highlights can be of any length, fanatics can request an eight minute highlight while casual fans can request a three minute highlight of the same game,” Warren Packard, Founder and CEO of Thuuz, tells LostRemote.

Imagine being a Rockets or Clippers fans and able to skip all instances of Hack-a-DeAndre. Fans can also call up game highlights of specific players or even types of plays. Have a fantasy team comprised of a disparate group of players? Thuuz Highlights can tailor packages accordingly.

The possibilities for such highlight packages seem endless:

“Knowledge of the subjective nature of content throughout a game allows us to place particular plays and sequences into the most compelling narrative,” Packard says. “And we adjust those measures with understanding the particular user’s preferences, like level of fanaticism for a team. Thuuz can generate different subjective values for different teams, players and plays, based on the particular user. So the one with LeBron and Pau on a fantasy team might see those players’ plays most prominently even when asking for encapsulated overall (not requesting just those two players) highlights of the game.”

Charter, DISH, Fox Sports, TiVo and Liberty Global’s Ziggo already use the Thuuz-powered Ultimate Sports Guide, which incorporates the company’s excitement level data. Thuuz Highlights is intended to complement this service.
