Girl Scouts, Stacey Dash Dominate Oscar Traffic

This year, the social conversation surrounding the Oscars had almost nothing to do with the celebs. Except for Leonardo DiCaprio who generated 780,147 tweets around  his firt win for Best Actor in The Revenent. But according to Amobee Brand Intelligence, none of the other winners in the top categories even broke into the top five moments overall on Sunday night.

Chris Rock was mentioned in 370,440 tweets and Lady Gaga who performed a nominated song from the documentary The Hunting Ground addressing the topic of rape was mentioned in 271,908 tweets. Stacey Dash also generated traffic during an awkward moment where it wasn’t clear if anyone — not even her — was in on the joke. There were 158,211 tweets around Stacey Dash coming out and wishing everyone a “Happy Black History Month,” referencing a Fox News segment, where she had previously talked about wanting to abolish the event.

Really, the winner last night was the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag which drove 120,123,000 tweets. There were 120,120 tweets around the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite between 8:30 p.m. ET and 12:30 a.m. ET on Sunday.

Overall, this Oscars was dominated by the OscarsSoWhite hashtag, Girl Scout cookies, and the ads running in between segments. So much for Hollywood, right?
