ABC News partners with Bluefin Labs for 2012 campaign

ABC News has expanded its relationship with Bluefin Labs to provide social analysis for key nights in the 2012 campaign, from the conventions to election night. As we reported in December, Bluefin is currently powering the “Political Stock Market,” a real-time ticker on ABC’s new political site, OtusNews.com. On several big coverage nights, Bluefin will provide social analysis on ABC’s air. The network explains:

Data visualizations of social conversations and sentiment have also been used on air like never before. As these historic nights unfold, Bluefin Labs will be monitoring public reaction to televised events and providing real time feedback to ABC News anchors, correspondents and producers giving ABC News viewers one more way to see the whole picture.

As part of the arrangement, Bluefin representatives will be on site for ABC News broadcasts and “will have key contributions to ABC News Digital stories,” the press release explains.

Bluefin Labs is the product of research from MIT Media Lab, and the startup has been one of the most aggressive new players in the social TV space.
