2014 Times Square Ball app makes the New York New Year’s Eve experience available worldwide

459260863_640New Year’s Eve 2014 marked the fifth time that Livestream made it possible for the whole world to experience Times Square’s famous celebration. While the Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, organizers of Times Square New Year’s Eve, has partnered in the past with Livestream on the official app, For the first time, users were able to talk directly with the Times Square Ball, who shared its perspective on the  Times Square festivities via Twitter.

screen568x568 “In response to the tremendous worldwide enthusiasm,” said Jeffrey Straus, president of Countdown Entertainment, “we are again providing the official live viewing experience for users of mobile phones and tablets to interact with the Times Square Ball and the world’s most famous New Year’s Eve Celebration.”

By mid-December, the 2014 Times Square Ball App reached 500,000 downloads from users in162 countries, nearly doubling last year’s number by the same point. The 6-hour webcast was hosted by CW and VH1 host Allison Hagendorf . This year’s show featured an exclusive reveal of AP’s Year-End News Highlights video and an exclusive clip from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
