Whichbook Helps You Find a Read Based on Your Mood

By Dianna Dilworth

Looking for a good book to read over the holiday weekend? Whether you want something happy, disturbing or optimistic, Whichbook can help you select a book depending on the mood you are in.

“Whichbook enables millions of combinations of factors and then suggests books which most closely match your needs,” explains the website. The algorithm has 12 scales and you can move the dial across them. The scales gravitate between two opposites, like say “happy” or “sad,” “larger than life” and down to earth” or “gentle” and violent.”

When we selected a book on the “unpredictable” end of things along with “beautiful” and “long”, the app recommended The Vagrants by Yiyun Li; Maya by Jostein Gaarder; and My Epileptic by Des Dillon.
