Today’s Book of Color Pick of the Day is Grace Lin’s Where the Mountain Meets the Moon (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers). Lin spins a fantastic tale rooted in Chinese folklore with the story of Minli, a young girl who lives in the valley of Fruitless Mountain. Minli’s life revolves around working in the fields all day and listening to her father’s stories about the Jade Dragon and the Old Man of the Moon. Despite her mother’s obvious disapproval, Minli chooses to believe in these stories and sets off on faraway travels in search of the Old Man of the Moon, hoping to change her family’s fortunes. Along the way, Minli befriends a dragon and other fantastic creatures.

Grace Lin is the author of The Year of the Dog and The Year of the Rat. Lin is also the illustrator of the full color illustrations that accompany the book.
