Wall Street Journal: Apple Tablet (or iSlate or iUnicorn) Is Coming

By Jason Boog

iphone3gs1.jpgApple Tablet rumors just got more legit as the Wall Street Journal reported (via unnamed sources) that Apple (AAPL) will reveal a “multimedia tablet device” this month, with a projected ship date of March.

Here’s more from the article: “people briefed on the matter said the new tablet device will come with a 10- to 11-inch touch screen. An Apple spokesman said the company doesn’t comment on rumors and speculation … Analysts currently believe an Apple tablet will be priced at about $1,000, possibly including a subscription to a nationwide Wi-Fi wireless service.”

Some speculate that the new device will be called iSlate (or in other circles, The Unicorn). The last set of rumors about the tablet predicted a January 2010 release date and a possible 30/70 split with publishers who build content for the new device.

This morning we pondered this new device on the Morning Media Menu, analyzing how this new device could change the way we read, subscribe, and interact with media in 2010. Earlier today, eBookNewser featured a round-up of recent rumors.
