Brian Brushwood’s Scam School: Volume 1, a collection of magic tricks won the “Best Overall eBook” in digital publishing company Vook’s eBook Creation Contest.

Joey O’Connor’s book The Grove Center for the Arts & Media won the “Best Designed” eBook and for his title Create: Transforming Stories of Art, Life and Faith.

eBookNewser has more: “The contest is part of Vook’s revamping of its digital publishing platform, a multimedia tool for publishing eBooks. As part of the revamp, the company listened to feedback from its beta users, to make the process of creating eBooks with its system easier. The publisher did away with 200 bugs in the system and added 31 new features, which were recommended by users.”

Using the platform, publishers can format and distribute eBooks for the major eBook retailers. Vook’s Matt Cavnar boasted to Digital Book World last month: “Vook is the publishing platform of the future. If you have a powerful enough platform, it can serve the needs of the original creator as well as an enterprise level organization. We’re going to remove the pain and complications around the actual creation of the e-book because it’s actually incredibly vexed. Even some of the major publishers are having problems with digital conversion, so it’s a serious pain point.”
