Remember that short film a few months ago where Dennis Cass talked about everything wrong with his publicity? Well, you won’t catch Jonathan Evison sitting around his living room complaining: In this footage from a recent appearance at Russo’s, an indie bookstore in Bakersfield, CA, Evison’s pals, including a documentary crew following him on a West Coast tour to promote his new novel, All About Lulu, are prepared to walk up to just about anybody and try to get them interested in the book.
N.L. Belardes, who shot the footage of Evison and his documentary posse, also wrote about Evison’s visit to the Grand Sequoias, some of which is on the tape. And then, at the end, Evison promises Los Angeles residents who come to Thursday night’s reading at Skylight Books “an Appalachian wedding buffet, free beer. … [and] Jell-O shots.” So there’s that to look forward to.
